if you want to provide that list of 13’s episodes i would love it as a crash course<33 i’ve been meaning to catch up but haven’t had the time and the End Of The Semester is here so i probably won’t have time for an actual catch up until break. in like 3 weeks:( also for that earlier ask, i watched the special with absolutely 0 leadup besides a vague memory of 13’s first season and the stuff i’ve been lightly spoiled on as a result of existing On Here and was not really confused at all, though i definitely want to go back and watch the 13->14 regeneration scene, so it’s definitely not super heavy on stuff from 13 yet!
thank you for enabling me anon i owe you my life <3
this list has both episodes that are important to the plot and episodes that i personally enjoy, and i'll mark the plot relevant ones in bold
1. the woman who fell to earth
2. the ghost monument
3. demons of the punjab
4. kerblam!
5. the witchfinders
6. it takes you away
7. the battle of ranskoor av kolos - season finale so i'm including it but not terribly important to the whole thing
7. spyfall pt1 and 2 - both important to the plot and a personal favorite
8. nikola tesla's night of terror
9. fugitive of the judoon
10. the haunting of villa diodati
11. the timeless children - not a good episode per se but you have to watch it to understand things (even if the things in question suck so bad)
12. the flux (aka s13 from the halloween apocalypse to the vanquishers)
this one is weird because it's a series of interconnected episodes, so you can't really pick and choose. its weird and confusing but i still recommend it because of dan my best friend dan
13. eve of the daleks - my absolute favorite episode of the entire 13 era
14. the power of the doctor

BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!
SPOILERS
I know I made a post about my love of BanG Dream! already but i left out one part of my journey because I believe it deserves its own spot.
The last piece of anime content was BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! and I can not express how much those 13 episodes moved me. Such a short runtime in the grand scheme of things but they did absolutely stellar work, introduced many new characters to the universe and told a very emotional journey.
Anon, Tomori, Taki, Soyo, Raana, I've come to love them so dern much. Thinking back on it, the season had quite a few similarities with the 1st season of BanG Dream! which intro'd Poppin Party (Kasumi, Arisa, Rimi, Tae, Saaya) and even had its own dramatic moments that were well down with a satisfying finale.
This though, man this just hit in every way I'm sure it wanted to hit.
It's MyGO (Eps 1 - 7) Thoughts LINK
It's MyGO (Eps 8 -13) Thoughts LINK
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All I was told before i watched it, well nothing but a few comments stated that they were excited for me to watch it, really wanted me to get around to it and I can see why.
If I had known too much beforehand ESPECIALLY regarding episodes 7 - 10 idk if they would've smashed my feelings the way that they did so I am glad everyone was so thoughtful in their comments.
I cried a lot watching this series and when I watched certain episodes again, it still got me hard. Few things more devastating than hearing Tomori say she "hates bands" after what just went down, ep 10 is the greatest comeback of all time. everything before building up to that moment and executed perfectly.
I want more of this group. I know the next BanG Dream! anime is focused on Ave Mujica and it airs next year, January i believe and I am very excited to watch it. I just can't wait to see these girls again. And hey, since their last episode was like 75% Ave Mujica maybe we can flip that and have an episode next year be 75% MyGO XD
For real tho i think how the group was left off in episode 13 was a perfect place to put them for whatever is to come. Gosh i love them all.
Tomori is just so precious and I badly wanted to see her succeed. Anon is such a change for a POV character as she wasn't even committed at all in the beginning (shown by how lax she was on learning the guitar), Taki and Tomori's bond was great to watch and I love how it played out that even though the former wanted to this for the latter, she wound up breaking things even more tho she didn't intend to.
And Soyo. Oh Soyo. idk how I can sum her up beyond she is endlessly fascinating and tragic and different from pretty much every other BanG Dream! character
And Raana was just there for the ride, the stray cat. She's endlessly amusing and I came to appreciate her presence pretty quick. She is also one of the many things tying back to the first season.
I could continue to go on but all this just makes me want to watch it again.
This officially my second favorite anime of all time only behind Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds and I now leave you all with one last moment between Anon and Tomori that gave me the warm fuzzies.

"Bob's Burgers" Season 7 Episode Ranking Rewatch (Long Post)
So, I've been rewatching "Bob's Burgers" from the beginning and ranking the episodes using the spreadsheet that @babsvibes created! If you want to know why I'm doing this or how I view the 1-5 rating scale, you can check out my Season 1 post! If you want to check out any of the other seasons, I've been using the "bob's burgers episode ranking rewatch" tag for all of them.
Now, on to Season 7:
Tumblr media
Average (Mean) Score: 4.64
Mode (Most Common) Ranking: 5
Ranking Breakdown: 15 5s 6 4s 1 3
Season as whole thoughts:
Our new first place season (and I think it's kind of unlikely to be topped!) Unlike with Season 4, where I was kind of surprised by how high its average scored ended up being, Season 7 is one that I knew going in had several of my favorite episodes. I remember several years ago, the AV Club had a Q and A asking "What's the strongest 3 episode run of a TV show"? My immediate thought when seeing that : "Bob's Burgers" when they did "Ex Mach Tina" followed by "Bob Actually" followed by "There's No Business Like Mr. Business Business".
"Bob Actually" is a strongest contender for my favorite episode, and when I think of the reasons why (which do, in fact, go beyond "Roudise Kiss!!!!!!!"), I think they kind of encapsulate the strengths of this season. I think "Bob Actually" is a perfect combination of being really funny (everything Flips Whitefudge says; Ms. LaBonz stealing from the school; heck, even Mr. Blevins gets a funny line!), being really creative (giving each of the Belchers their own storylines rather than just an A and B story), and being emotionally satisfying (obviously, this kind of depends on how fond you are of Tinimmy and Roudise and Boblin.)
And I feel like a lot of the episodes of this season have that perfect combination of humor, emotion, and creativity- "Large Brother, Where Fart Thou?" sees the hilarity of Bob and Linda getting high with their account, the innovation of Tina having a storyline where she doesn't interact with any of the other Belchers, and the emotion of Gene being a protective big brother to Louise. "Last Gingerbread House on the Left" features a gunfight at a gingerbread house competition (hilarious!), that uses beautiful slow motion and closeups (creative!), and results in Bob actually winning something for once and giving a great Christmas present to his kids- and Mr. Fischoeder and his weird rich friends (awwwww!)
Obviously, I think the show was great in its previous seasons, but in my book Season 7 is just amazing- a show at the top of its game and not content to rest on its laurels!
Some thoughts on specific episodes (and feel free to ask if you want my thoughts on an episode I didn't comment on):
"Flu-ouise": I loved learning a little bit more about Kuchi Kopi and Louise's other toys! I will always crack up when Teddy says "Mumaluma!" One of my favorite end credits sequences- I love Louise's exuberant dancing and the song- "but the sickness made you better, and I'm glad you didn't diiiiiiiiie!"
"Teen-a Witch": I hope before the show ends we get to see Mr. Ambrose riding his bike to school with a little dog in the front basket.
"The Quirkducers": Along with "The Hormone-iums" this was the other episode that convinced me I should do a rewatch before doing the spreadsheet. One of the cable channels was doing a marathon of the Thanksgiving episodes and I remember feeling kind of meh when this came up- I knew it wasn't one of my favorites. Or I THOUGHT I knew! This is a wonderful episode! There is a good chance I will tear up when Tina starts singing about how "it takes guts to be yourself!" And the Grandpa Potato is hilarious! And Peter Pescadero's women's issues club song is further proof that he is THE great underrated character of the show.
"Ex Mach Tina": So, we can all just agree that Jimmy Jr's musoems are some of the funniest writing on the show, right? And that "Watching You From a Distant Place" is one of the best songs? The way all three of the plots- Tina and J-Ju and the robot, Louise and Gene and Yuli and the robot, and Bob and the banjo- come together at the end is brilliant and beautiful! Tammy and Joceyln's "A.I"-"as if" conversation, followed by Zeke's "you guys are making me feel smart" is possibly my favorite moment for those characters. This episode is really pretty perfect.
"Bob Actually": So, you may not know this about me, because I tend to keep this close to my chest but I'm actually a pretty big fan of Louise and Rudy's relationship. Shocking, right? And I've basically been shipping them since the end of "Carpe Museum", a fact which I have never disclosed before (certainly not in my Season 3 rewatch post). And then they have a Valentine's Day story that ends with them kissing, and I really like that episode. Okay, I probably dropped a lot of surprising info on y'all there so I understand if you need to take a break before reading the rest of this.
"There's No Business Like Mr. Business Business": John Oliver! Gene and Tina eating cat food! Bob training a cat! Bob accepting Gayle for who she is! Mr. Business getting ALMOST as much screentime as he deserves! This is an amazing episode, and I stand by my 2019 opinion that this the two previous episodes are the best 3 episodes run in TV history (okay, well, one of them anyway. I haven't watched all the TV shows! And how would I even know how good their episodes are if Babs doesn't make a spreadsheet for them?!)
"A Few 'Gurt Men": I was surprised how much I enjoyed this one! I'm a lawyer, and a pretty burnt out one at that, so I tend to not enjoy legal shows or movies any more- even comedy ones. But my love of the Wagstaff students and staff trumped by legal burnout and I really enjoyed this episode! Also, I love the episodes that show that Louise and Mr. Frond really respect and care for each other. (That said, I absolutely am not one of those people who sees this episode and thinks Louise will grow up to be a lawyer! She wouldn't last more than a semester at law school. No matter how mature she gets, Louise will never suffer fools gladly, and that's a kind of necessary trait to get through law school- let alone be a practicing lawyer.)
"Like Gene for Chocolate": Meh. Even Michael Jordan didn't make all his shots.
"Aquaticism": I think this is one of the most romantic episodes of "Bob's Burgers"- even more romantic than some of the Valentine's Day episodes. I may love Boblin and Roudise, but honestly it's Roger and Judy that are my real relationship goals at the present moment. Just some kind of sweet, kind of awkward middle aged people finding love...or, at least, a date Awwww. (Also, to again point out the combination of emotion and humor in this season: this is also an episode where the kids convince an aquarium owner to commit tax fraud by creating a religion and it results in an IRS agent jumping in a jellyfish tank...)
"Ain't Miss Debatin'": I love Henry Haber. I wrote a fic about him named after a line of dialogue from this episode. The scene where he goes to pick up Tina for their date and makes small talk with Bob, Gene, and Louise is one of my all-time favorites. Also, the introduction of Duncan, a character who basically makes me laugh with every single line. "Rebuttal? Where I'm from we call it buttle-rubbies."
"The Laser-inth": Maybe the sleeper hit of this season. I remember thinking it was okay going in, but it just really moved me this time around. Bob is just such a great Dad in this episode! It might be my favorite Bob and Gene episode. And the subplot is great too! I love Louise and Gretchen's dynamic: "Pretend you're a little girl." "Pssh. I'll try."
"Mom, Lies, and Videotape": So, I feel like I may have been even more obnoxiously Roudise shippy than usual in this post given that this is the season of "Bob Actually", so if that's bothered any of you, I am sorry, and I advise you skip this comment. Okay, so, this is the first speaking appearance by Chloe or Rudy since "Bob Actually". And Louise makes up a story where they are in a class play that culminates in: 1. Her shooting Chloe with a rubber band and 2. Rudy holding her tenderly in his arms in front of everyone in the auditorium (yeah, I know she's playing his mom and she's dying BUT STILL!) She could've come up with any idea and put any of her classmates in any of the roles, and that's the story she tells...
"Paraders of the Lost Float": Some episodes I know how I am going to rate them pretty early on, others I don't really know til the end. This episode just has a such a beautiful feelgood ending that it moved it from a 4 to a 5. Really, I think it's probably one of the most feelgood endings of any episode of the show. It just makes me so happy! "Hot pants rain dance! Da-da doo-doo rain, I don't know the words!"
Random thoughts (stuff that doesn't affect the ratings):
-So I kind of stopped mentioning first appearances by characters after either Rudy in Season 3 or Felix in Season 4, but it's kind of remarkable how many characters joined this season or later. It's hard to imagine we went over six seasons without having Chloe in Ms. LaBonz's class (and Arnold and Kaylee still aren't there)!
-It's too bad I'm an old person who's more comfortable writing a bunch of words than just making memes, because I feel like this all could've been covered much more succinctly with that "Seinfeld" meme: "You're crying from 'Bob's Burgers' Season 7?"

ASK EDDIE returns Thursday, April 6, 7:00 PM PT to our Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/filmnoirfoundation/live
FNF prez Eddie Muller responds to film noir fan questions fielded by the Foundation's Director of Communications Anne Hockens. In this episode, we discuss the selection process for the Oscar’s “In Memoriam” presentation, season two of Perry Mason, Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave, the impact of the studio system’s treatment of talent on film noirs, “transitional” film noir and more. We wind things up answering two possibly divisive questions, who is the toughest male protagonist in noir and what is the best film noir. On the cat front, Emily and Charlotte are background players.
Want your question answered in a future episode? We solicit questions from our email subscribers in our monthly newsletters. Sign up for free at https://www.filmnoirfoundation.org/signup.html
Everyone who signs up on our email list and contributes $20 or more to the Film Noir Foundation receives the digital version of NOIR CITY Magazine for a year. Donate here: https://www.filmnoirfoundation.org/contribute.html
This week’s questions:
1.       What do you think of the methodology used by the Academy to determine inclusions for the In Memoriam during the Oscars' broadcast, and is it possible to submit names for inclusion? Pete from sunny Sydney, Australia.
2.       Given how hard it was to find the elements to restore Detour, what are the odds of rescuing films from a now defunct independent movie company?
Michael Johnson, Post Falls, Idaho
3.       We thought "El vampiro negro" was great. About a half hour into it, we spotted a brief shot of Chicago (the Wrigley Building, the Michigan Ave. Bridge, two buses with "Chicago" on the sides, and a Schlitz sign!).  Do you know what happened?
Donna and David, in Chicago
4.       Just looking for your thoughts on season two of “Perry Mason” on HBO.
Kathy
5.       Have you seen “Decision to Leave”, South Korean director Park Chan-wook's acclaimed new neo-noir? Kathleen from Chicago
6.       In your book “Dark City”, you link the Hollywood studio system to the rise and flourishing of film noir in the 40s.  Of course, the films were produced out of that system, but I think you are claiming more, that the moods and substance of noir films were (in part) generated out of the studio system and how it treated actors, directors, writers, and others. Could you say more about that?
Mike
7.       Can you recommend other film noir movies that are shot on location? If there aren’t that many film noirs shot on location, you can recommend non-noir but from the same time-era (1930-1960s).
Iisakki, Finland
8.       Are there any female-led detective noirs from the classic noir period (think “The Maltese Falcon” or “Murder, My Sweet” but with a female detective)? What about after the classic noir period? Ryan from Studio City adjacent (aka Valley Village, CA)
9.       I have a two-part question about Gloria Grahame:
What did you think of her Oscar winning performance in "The Bad and the Beautiful"? And, Eddie, are you happy or sad that you watched the Gloria Grahame performance you said you were "saving" to watch in "Man on a Tightrope"?
Marjorie from the poor part of Connecticut
10.   The femmes fatale are constantly discussed and are the proper focus of the genre. What I’d like to know is how Ann Shirley got from P.E.I. to Bay City?  How did the spunky orphan from Green Gables wind up on the west coast, being raised by a policeman? How did she find her way into LA journalism and falling in with Philip Marlowe?
Eric
11.   Do you think there is such thing as transitional film noir? Or do you think anything from 1960 onwards is simply neo-noir?
Brett Lambert, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
12.   What did you think of gene hackman in remake of “The Narrow Margin?”
Alan, San Anselmo, Ca.
13.   Eddie, you’ve mentioned that you’ve watched films several times. Is there, in your or Anne’s opinion, an optimal number of times a film should be watched to truly appreciate its many facets?
Your Henchman contributor, TB, Costa Mesa, CA
14.   Simple question:  in your opinion, who is the toughest male protagonist in the history of classic American film noir? My definition of toughness would be a character who is not intimidated by anybody, so my nominee would be Jeff Bailey from “Out of the Past”.
Joe, Hermosa Beach, CA
15.   What is the best film noir? This is a difficult question to answer, as there are many great film noirs that could be considered the best. Some of the most highly acclaimed films in this genre include “The Maltese Falcon” (1941), “Double Indemnity” (1944), “Out of the Past” (1947), and “Touch of Evil” (1958).

Movies & TV Shows to Watch this Weekend

Movies & TV Shows to Watch this Weekend
Tumblr media
This past week I watched two movies, the original Planet of the Apes from 1968, and Wolfs starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Both were pretty great, Planet of the Apes I originally watched in the early 80s so didn’t really remember much of it. It’s actually had a great storyline and although the special effects are really dated, it didn’t bother me much. Wolfs was also a lot of fun, it has a 6.5 rating on IMDB but that doesn’t reflect the film accurately. It was very entertaining and had some funny moments, and thats really all I ask from a film sometimes.
youtube
I also started watching the series Agatha All Along which is meant to be the sequel to WandaVision. First episode was confusing but I’m 6 to 7 episodes in now and it’s pretty ok. I also watched the first episode of High Potential starring Kaitlin Olson from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Wife is loving the show, hopefully by the end of the season she’ll want to see more of Kaitlin and then I can suggest we binge watch It’s Always Sunny which she really hates.
This week I also decided to upgrade my TV life. I’m replacing my 55″ LG B1 OLED TV with a 65″ LG C3 OLED TV. I should have honestly gotten a 65″ back when I got the B1 but I didn’t for some reason, maybe cuz I didn’t want to pay more than I did. The C3 should be brighter and also supports 120hz refresh rate so curious to see how it turns out. I’m also upgrading my AV receiver from the Onkyo TX-NR686 to the Marantz Cinema 60. I was trying to decide between it and the Yamaha RX-A2A but then the Xcite lady offered me a 10% discount on the Marantz and I decided to go for it. Both should be delivered today so pretty excited about it.
Now I’m contemplating picking up an SVS subwoofer but need to pass by Xcite and see what they have in stock because the website isn’t showing much. I have the SB1000 Pro connected to my KEF LSX speakers and it’s incredible, so thinking of getting the PB1000 Pro for my TV room. Sometimes the Xcite website says something is out of stock but on their in store system it shows units, like my Marantz unit is out of stock on the website but there was 1 new piece in Avenues location according to system. With the subwoofer I’m hoping they only have display models left since they give you an automatic 15% discount on display items which is a nice little discount.
Let me know in the comments what you recently watched or planning to watch.
Movies at the Cinemas The movies below are now showing at the local cinemas:
New This Week: Aftermath (6.1) Cellar Door (N/A) Elli and her Monster Team (4.9) Panda Plan (6.1) Take Cover (5.0) Terrifier 3 (6.7) The Silent Hour (6.0)
Other Movies Showing: Cash Out (4.7) Joker: Folie à Deux (5.7) Little Emma (6.5) Robot Dreams (7.6) Smile 2 (7.1) The Wild Robot (8.2) Transformers One (7.8) Venom: The Last Dance (6.3)

I’m eating pasta and recovering from an existential crisis about outer space so let’s watch Stranger Things season episode 8.
1.) I love it when a scientist in something confidently says something can’t get through and is wrong 30 seconds later
2.) it’s Mike’s idea to drug Will so the monsters can’t find them
3.) every time hopper carries Will to safety I get sappy
4.) I straight up did not recognize Max’s mom or stepdad
5.) Neil is still the worst and Susan sucks for standing by

9.) oh the kids found the comphet
10.) power going back onnnn. And Bob is coding
11.) bob left the gun!!!!!!!!!!!! I forgot he left it!!!!!
12.) bob shut the fuck up and just listennn!!!!!
13.) I’m so sad that I know what happens to Bob
14.) I forgot he knocks over a broom leaving the closet
15.) rip to a real one. This really wasn’t fair
16.) hopper did try to save Bob but it was super too late
17.) damn you really gonna make me watch them eat Bob’s dead body??? Really thought that man died and then the episode ended for some reason
18.) Joyce is so sad. Mike is so sad. Everyone is so sad. Even the music is sad.
19.) Bob started the AV club and taught mr. Clarke
20.) mike’s idea to stop the mind flayer
21.) Dustin names it the mind flayer
22.) mike comes up with the plan to question Will
23.) Nancy thanks Steve for helping the kids which was a sweet friendship moment
24.) Dustin apologizes for lying but then pulls a Murray about Lucas and Max

30.) Morse code is a huge plot point in season 2.

Movies and shows I have been watching recently (March 2021- June 2021)
1. Raya and the Last Dragon
Tumblr media
10/10 recommend
Raya and the Last Dragon was a great refresher from all the live action movies that Disney has been making. It was a very engaging story about friendship and rivalry. I also really enjoyed how much it reminded me of Avatar: the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra without ripping it off. To top it all off, it gave great insight on South Eastern Asian culture.
2. Lady Bird
Tumblr media
10/10 recommend
This film was a really well-written narrative. It had great characters and a storyline that was easy to follow. Also, many sensitive topics were well implemented, such as LGBTQ+ and abortion topics.
3. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Tumblr media
9/10 recommend
While I really enjoyed this series, the plot line was sometimes hard to follow. I would have a hard time reviewing this show without spoiling the series. However, I will mention that this series touches on topics such as supremacy very well.
4. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018)
Tumblr media
9/10 recommend
I finally got around to watching this series and I got to say, it’s a pretty great show. However, the only criticism I have was the pacing of the show. My favorite season was the final season because of the high stakes and how engaging it was. It is totally worth a watch.
5. The Mitchells vs. the Machines
Tumblr media
10/10 recommend
I watched this movie mainly because of Alex Hirsch’s influence but it was amazing, period. For one, I found myself identifying with Katie as an aspiring filmmaker. I also loved the message about over reliance on technology. This was surprisingly made by the same studio who made The Emoji Movie, which shows how much Sony Pictures Animation has improved tremendously.
6. Adventure Time: Together Again
Tumblr media
10/10 recommend
This was great closure for the Adventure Time series. This would also be very hard to review without spoiling it but this final Finn and Jake adventure is very unpredictable. It was much different than how I expected it to be.
7. Close Enough (season 2)
Tumblr media
10/10 recommend
So, it finally released in Canada (my VPN is set up to Canada) and I was finally able to watch it. It lived up to the first season and it had some more great Regular Show cameos. There was even a cameo of JG Quintel himself in one episode. It was overall very enjoyable and it kept up with the weirdness that the first season had.
8. Cruella (2021)
Tumblr media
9/10 recommend
This was more than just a remake, it actually accomplished something new. I really liked the direction that Disney went with this movie. The only criticism I have was the predictable plot line. However, if you want an entertaining movie, I recommend this one.
9. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Tumblr media
10/10 recommend
I really enjoyed this movie in many ways. One thing I absolutely loved about this movie was the 80′s setting. The movie actually felt like it came out in the 80′s. I also really liked the characters and the storyline. This story was pretty accurate to my personal experience during my freshman year of high school. If you haven't seen this movie, do yourself a favor and watch it.
10. Amphibia
Tumblr media
10/10
Y’all are sleeping on this show, and I am guilty of it too. Amphibia has great emotional arcs, with being goofy at the same time. To all the people who say this show is childish, there was an episode that badly triggered my PTSD (Last scene of Reunion). Also, True Colours was a tear-jerker for me. One of my favourite episodes was the Gravity Falls cameos. Please do yourself a favor and watch this show.
11. In the Heights
Tumblr media
9/10 recommend
It had great music and great insight of what it was like living in Washington Ave in New York. One great part about this film was that it was about the aspirations of immigrants. Also, this is made by the same person who wrote Hamilton (Lin Manuel Miranda). The only criticism I have about this film is the pacing.
12. Luca
Tumblr media
8.5/10 recommend
I watched this movie in support of the people who worked hard on this movie. While I liked the simplicity of this movie, I thought it was too simple for my liking. I really liked the characters in this movie and it was a great metaphor for the LGBTQ+ community. My biggest problem with the film was that it was predictable. It was not up to the Pixar standards but I still think that it is worth watching.

ANYA: What do you want? XANDER: I want to help you. ANYA: Everyone is so considerate today. I should've slaughtered people weeks ago. XANDER: I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I did to you. Everything I put you through. ANYA: Thank you. All better. Thank goodness you got here in time. XANDER: You don't understand. This isn't an intervention. Buffy's coming to kill you. ANYA: She's coming to try. XANDER: Did everybody have their crazy flakes today? You guys are friends. How could you talk like this? ANYA: I have a job to do. And so does Buffy. Xander, you've always seen what you wanted to. But you knew, sooner or later, it would come to this.

Hii <3 I hope you're okay and school hasn't killed you yet!
I just wanted to ask your opinion about the possible meaning of that thing in the Byers garden in S1 E4... It looks pretty scary to me, but I'm not sure what to think of it XD is it a movie ref, you think? It kinda makes me think of Lonnie Byers tbh
Take care <3
Hi bestie! 💜 I'm SO sorry this has taken me a few days to answer! I had a few big projects to finish and I really loved this question and I was intrigued by it so I wanted to do a good amount of digging around to hopefully come up with a semi-correct answer :) Thankfully, school has not killed me yet :) woohoo! LOL, anyways I hope you're doing well with everything and getting to relax some too!
So the first thing I noticed was that this statue is in the Byers front yard, kind of like a gnome. I did some research and found out gnomes are commonly thought of as magical creatures that can "thwart off evil" as to protect the inhabitants of the house. And often associated with the quote "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil"
But gnomes usually have pointy hats and this statue doesn't look like a traditional gnome does. Then I did some research about garden statues and I couldn't find anything definitive that a statue in a garden or yard would have the exact same abilities as a gnome, since gnomes are only thought to thwart of evil because they are magical creatures in folklore. But I did find that garden statues are thought to have similar meanings to gnomes, just without the gnomes powers.
We see this statue in the Byers yard in Season 1, Episode 4 titled "The Body", where Hopper discovers Will's body is a fake (the 3rd episode is where they find his fake body) Right before we see the statue, Hopper interrogates a man at a bar and the man tells him he wasn't supposed to "let anyone get too close". Hopper responds "to what?" and the man says "the body." The man works for Hawkins Lab or some branch of the government involved in this stuff, but doesn't want to say because it is dangerous.
When we see this statue, it's right around 37:06. Winds are blowing in th background and we can hear an owl too. Owl's have always been associated with wisdom and thought of as wise.. Garden gnomes are also thought of as wise. So that's 2 references to wisdom in this shot and given that it's the Byers house where Will lives, I think this has something to do with Will the Wise...
Right after we see the statue, Joyce puts in a tape of "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash, a song very much associated with Will. She screams at the christmas lights in her living room yelling "Talk to me! I know you're here!", in an. attempt to communicate with Will through the lights again. At the same time, the party goes to the AV room so Eleven can use the bigger radio to hear Will in the Upside Down.
Right after we see the statue we see two simultaneous scenes of people comunicating/listening to Will in the upside down, so given the shot of the statue's association with wisdom and Will is "Will the Wise" combined with seeing & hearing Will right after the we see statute shot, I'm pretty confident this statue has something to do with Will, and particuarly the other side of him "Will the Wise", who we know is bad news. We also see Eleven have flashbacks to her time in the lab while she tries to communicate with Will, so maybe that's another subtle 7/11 reference, as well as her and Will's possible connection to the number 4.
This shot happens in s1, ep. 4. and s2 ep.4 begins Will's possesion storyline titled "Will the Wise"... That's interesting.
s3, ep.4 is titled "The Sauna Test". It doesn't have the same focus on Will as the other season's episode 4's have had, but Will does sense the mind flayer in this episode and the mind flayer is present when they lock Billy in the sauna and they fight him, and Will is the only one in that room (besides Billy who is possessed rn, and Eleven) who has a connection to the upside down.
I think it could be a reference to a movie (which might give us more clues to what this statue means), but I can't recall seeing a statue like this that in a movie that would relate to the general ideas I mentioned above somehow, off the top of my head. If anyone else has seen a statute like this in a movie, feel free to share because I'd love to know :)
Thanks for the ask bestie! <3

☕️ what would you like to see happen with robbys character in season four?
Oh, man... I’ll try to make this as coherent as possible. Thanks for the ask!
1) Shannon. I’ll be really disappointed if she isn’t in s4 and we get some line like “yeah, Shannon’s worried about Robby but she can’t leave rehab!! xoxo bye”... that would seriously suck.
The reason she went to rehab in the first place was to be a better mom for Robby, and I do believe she truly cares about him. The look on her face while Robby was getting arrested is proof of that. Right now Robby is about to deal with the worst thing he’ll ever have to deal with, which is being under Kreese. If there could be someone who could talk some sense into him, it’s his mom. And I’d also like to see Shannon call out Johnny and Daniel for leaving Robby with Kreese, because that was... a choice™.
2) This should have happened in s3, but I need to see Robby talking about the school fight and what he did to Miguel. They could have had some scenes of Robby in juvie having nightmares or getting some PTSD flashbacks of kicking Miguel down the stairs, but instead we got... nothing. Just some cool fight in ep5, and then Robby was missing for two whole episodes where who knows what happened to him (tbh the way they dealt with both Miguel and Robby’s reactions to the school fight and Miguel’s fall was extremely poorly written).
3) I know a lot of people don’t want to see Robby doing ~villainous things, but I think that’s inevitable. He’s angry, feels abandoned and betrayed by everyone he’s ever cared about, has no positive influences in his life right now, and is currently with Kreese and Cobra Kai. So Robby going dark and doing some extreme things like Hawk and Tory did in s3 is meant to happen. I think it’d be bullshit if by the first episode we already have Robby in full Cobra Kai mode, but at the same time, he already stole a snake to please Kreese and his new teammates. And I personally don’t mind Robby being a bad bitch for a while, as long as they show his inner struggle and he doesn’t completely forget the things he’s learned at Miyagi-Do.
4) Robby and Tory opening up to each other. Listen, I know, I KNOW this show has a bad track record with romance. But we truly don’t know if Robby and Tory will be a couple yet, so I’ll save my judgment and opinions for that later, if they get together. What I need to see is them talking about their shitty home lives together, maybe have a scene where Robby goes to Tory’s place and he meets her little brother or something. Robby telling Tory about what it was like growing up with an alcoholic mom and without a dad would be good, too. idk, I just need someone to have Robby’s back.
5) I’d like to see Sam acknowledging Robby’s situation in some way. We know she still cares about him, so it’d be nice to have a scene between her and Daniel where she’s worried about what could happen to Robby under Kreese. Maybe have a scene where Johnny asks Sam about Robby? Johnny doesn’t know his own son, so maybe his ex-girlfriend would be the perfect person to tell him something about him...
6) I don’t wanna get my hopes up with Johnny, but dude... your son is right now in the same situation you were all those years ago. And he ended up there because of your negligence. So I think it’d be good for Johnny’s character to beat himself up over what’s going on with Robby, and for him to try to do something, anything. It’s sad that I have more faith in Daniel than in him.
7) For the show to point out that Robby used to be teammates with Demetri, Chris, and Nate. I know in s3, the writers didn’t want Robby to have friends that would actively fight for him because, well, if you have nice friends you won’t end up living in a dojo with a war criminal, and Robby isn’t allowed to have nice things, but you know, if we get some kind of confrontation scene between Robby and Miyagi-Do, maybe let Demetri say to him “we used to be on the same team!!” or something.
8) I know a lot of people don’t want this because it’s predictable, but I need the Miguel vs Robby rematch at the AV. I need Miguel to have a proper chance to confront Robby about, you know, almost killing him, and please, don’t make it all about Sam. I HATE that Miguel and Robby’s “confrontation” in s3 didn’t have the seriousness it deserved and had Sam in the middle of it. And as much as I love Robby, I need him to lose that fight. I’m hoping he’d break free of Kreese’s hold by the end of the season, but I guess there’s always the possibility that Robby could be with Kreese and Cobra Kai for a lot longer.
9) This will never happen, but I need Robby to find out Kyler sexually harassed Sam and punch him in the face, lmao.
10) Robby vs Hawk fight. I’ve already seen people predicting Robby will injure Hawk as payback for what happened in the first tournament, and I can totally see that happening. We know Hawk hates Robby’s guts for what he did to Miguel, so they should have a chance to fight it out.
There are probably some things I’m forgetting. With my luck, I’ll probably won’t even get half of these things, but I can still dream, lol.

((Had a ninjago fan season idea that takes place after s13 and semi centers around Kai ninjago. This seasons theme: Vacation gone wrong! I have segmented it into episodes for convenience. I uh, may or may not dedicate some time to drawing content for this thing, so I apologize in advance. ((also it is. a long post.
Episode 1 - Answering machine going off and its’ Ronins voice over the machine: 'Looks like I’m gonna run late.. ugh this whole thing is falling apart isn't it. But we'll make it work. I got you a ferry to take you there, one of the cruise ships. It was the least I could do for now... I'll meet you there, I promise.'     >Cuts to Dareth on the boat, taking him and the rest of the people to ‘Aves Isle’.    >While everyone is getting off, Dareth helps a naga lady with carrying some of her stuff because Dareth ninjago.    >Naga ladys' name is 'Olive', she is a semi native. She starts talking about the islands' history. 'there used to be a temple but we don't know what happened to it, but it sunk into the ground.    >two investigate the area because Dareth has time to wait on Ronin.    >Upon finding whats’ left of the area and entering, the atmosphere changes and inflicts a weird curse or whatever.    >Dareth starts getting progressively more pushy Episode 2 - After s13 Wu wants to do more adventures so the bounty is just flying wherever the wind takes it I guess w/e {{Also realized I didn’t write much for Wu this entire rest of the story so I am assuming he’s having a grand ol’ time being on vacation}}    >wow it is night time, the bounty is flying in    >The crew ask where they are and Zane starts to go on his normal informative spiel before getting cut off.    >Oh there’s a thing on the radar. What the heck is that thing flying towards us OH GOD THAT’S A BIG ANGRY DRAGON    >Bounty has two smaller 'runner' boats? I guess? marketing. Two of the ninja hop on those and fly off.    >Zane and Jay distract the dragon so the bounty can safely land but it turns out there are two dragons and Jay gets taken down first. Yay soft landing.    >Bounty makes it safely over the fences that are on the island    >Zane gets taken out.    >Cuts back to Dareth and Olive still rooting around. activates something and wow a lava fountain. the ground is glowing in weird markings!    >Dareth snaps at Olive and she wells up and runs away and Dareth snaps out of it temporarily like 'oh crud why did I do that I didn't mean to be so bossy' and goes after her    >Olive gets overtaken and now: pointy.    >Dareth tries to stop her but she jumps into the portal lava whatever? hole?? not sure.    >He, of course, jumps in after.    >Fire Dareth.    >Random golden-looking platform chained to the bottom of the hole they are in. ominous voice: hey how about you get these locks free and we'll rebuild the temple? nice.    >Temple platform rises    >Zane gets tossed into an area? park? fenced in something or another??    >oh hi Jay    >oh community service sorting trash from recyclables? can do.
Episode 3 - The remaining ninja visit the two who are in 'time out' before deciding to have a look around the island.    >They take a nice walk down the beach Cole reminisces about the time Kai was extremely afraid of water    >Kai frowns as a laugh track is played. Claims he has gotten better at it but screams when Nya splashes him.    >Zane and Jay are done with service and its like 'okay how about we try to get out again?’    >Zane suggests doing it in the broad daylight since the dragons went out at night and may be nocturnal    >they try    >they get taken out again    >another round of community service    >sees another aircraft fall out of the sky    >guard: wow more property damage.    >sundown. lloyd notices that something strange is happening with some of the residents randomly getting more nippy and then not. strange. (Ninja get into an arguments with the locals or whatever)    >Stop by community service area    >Jay is now frustrated    >rest recuperate at where they parked the bounty    >Nya: well nothing is really going on here we can probably leave once the two are done breaking the law     >Ronin shows up to the area and is greeted sourly by Jay ninjago
Episode 4 - The ninja are ready to leave when they notice a weird ominous structure that wasn't there before.    >Crew investigate    >oh its hot. you can go in, Kai ninjago    >kai enters    >oh frick fire dareth    >kai ninjago, walking out and is krispy: there is a problem.    >three get out of service    >ronin asks if the little runner ships are 'truly' important    >hekcin steals their engine or whatever    >regroup at the bouty    >Kai: hey uhh, Dareth is peeved haha, I don't get it though he and I hang out every now and then.    >Ronin, internally: oh god he's really mad I didn't follow plans to a T-    >the ninja exchange awkward glances of guilt    >decide it'd be best to talk to him tomorrow, or try to. Also, more people are randomly getting upsetti, Jay is still frustrated.
Episode 5 - jay still has a bad attitude. lloyd is also starting to get upset. Cole tries to diffuse the situation but it causes the two to point their noses up at each other in silent anger. great.    >Kai enters in the temple again, which is even more built than it was before.   >Dareth being snarky   >kai apologizes and tells him he wasn't aware of it, and that he thought the two were good friends, reminding him of the times they hung out outside of mission things.   >Dareth calms down a bit   >finds a reason to be mad again.   >Ronin shows up   >'ronin?'   >''Told you I'd meet you here, what didn't you believe me? not really much of a vacation. How about we get some fresh air?"   >Dareth approaches   >oh no he's really hot.   >cheek caress with the robotic arm. gae.   >two head out. Room is no longer unbearably hot. good!   >squad enters in. goes into one of the inner chambers   >oh look the towns people overtaken by rage are building. nice.   >oh no jay and lloyd are fighting again.   >grabs attention of workers.   >the ninja get their butts handed to themselves, and lose Jay and lloyd in the process. nice   >cuts to Ronin and Dareth walking on the beach.   >Ronin smooth talking, normal Ronin behvior   >Flames and whatever fade from Dareth and he snaps out of it completely and immediately starts pouring out how he feels bad about being rude to Olive and whatever the bad guy is and what the plans of the temple are.   >Ronin: maybe we should tell the ninja. I don't want us to get involved anymore.
Episode 6 - Ronin informs the ninja of what's up.   >Nya: oh no we gotta stop this !   >Dareth: I want to help.   >Ronin: no we are on vacation we shouldn't have to; leave it up to them.   >Dareth: no I started this, this is my fault, I have to make it up to Olive and everyone <:(   >Ronin: :/   >Zane: we should focus on. not making the locals angry because that seems to draw them towards the temple.   >Ninja proceed to do good deeds, while part of them break off to do research   >learn about the bad guy dunn dun dunn!
episode 7 - Kai ninjago somehow is the one keeping the most level head out of everyone here and things get tense again. is it potentially out of character? Well he's mad that lloyd and jay are overtaken but he's doing a good job at self control.   >cuts to lloyd and Jay   >lloyd: this is dumb! why are we helping!? We're supposed to be stopping this!   >Jay: we're helping because YOU dragged us into this with your plan!   >argue. great   >bad guy laughing or whatever, oh the voice has a physical form that's manifesting from the heat of the temple. 'Good, soon I will be reborn and reclaim the island!'   >Olive inform him that Dareth has broken the spell   >bad guy furious and confused but is also like 'whatever we have a lot more important things to worry about'   >Nya and Zane are stepping on each others' toes.   >ronin and Dareth relay what they learned.   >kai sitting in the bounty looking disheveled   >'Human pinata makes the kids happy'. Horrifying.   >story about how the bad guy was dispersed after 'other beings' landed on the island and taught he locals the importance of peace and not war or whatever. It was probably some Oni and dragons chillin.   >Cole: oh! I mean we have two 'other beings' and those are the dragons, but they seem really angry and territorial   >Kai: maybe they want something and just haven't gotten it? ((Id have to mention one of the festivals known as the 'laughing dragon' festival or whatever but it's fallen into obscurity due to the dragons not being happy. Mention that sometime during episode 3))   >investigation time part 3.   >learn that there's a fruit that the dragons like, but the recipee was lost on how to make the disk for them   >well gang, time to get cooking! thank goodness Zane is on our-   >just kidding Zane and Nya are gone now because they got too angry at each other and went to 'get space' but they're probably at the temple now.
Episode 8 - Gotta do the cookin by the book!   >the ingredients are gathered.   >Dareth insists that they used a very speicific brand of exctact.   >Cole has no idea how to cook well   >Kai starts putting things together.   >Cole: when did you learn to cook?   >Kai: Well I had to take care of my sister buutt.. I dunno I think being the master of fire, cooking comes easy. ;)   >Cole: if there's any way I can help just let me know.   >kai: oh, yeah, bust open those things.   >Cole literally smashes open the fruit sending bits everywhere   >good ol happy comedic moment.   >first try   >Cole: . looks. uh. strange.   >Ronin: I am afraid to taste it.   >Dareth: oh I'm sure it can’t be- -face scrunch-   >Kai: <:)   >Dareth: well... I swallowed it.. at least..   >cuts to temple again   >bad guy is like 'we need more people how come everyone stopped coming?? someone needs to go out and start beating people up >:('   >Olive reports that the ninja were gathering ingredients for something or another   >Bad guy is like 'okay send some people there and stop them'
episode 9 - after the 5th attempt it's much more palatable so they make a larger batch and stick it in a boat all fancied up and now have to deliver it   >oh god angry people   >why are they looking at us hhh   >fite   >Kai: we legit cannot let any of this spill otherwise I'm going to scream.   >only way to get it away from the people is to go by ocean   >Ronin: we'll do what we can but you gotta do this kai. You're tough.   >kai: ahaha I still don't like water but!   >boat on water   >gets to the part outside of the gate   >oddly silent.   >kai proceeds to put it on the beach and starts calling out for the dragons and starts making noise or whatever. "im gonna kick your sand! haha! what are you going to do about it??'   >Dragons emerge, ready to fight   >sees the offering. Kai: it's okay it's okay, this is for you.   >backs away from the boat   >lets the dragons have it.   >the smaller one is curious about him and approaches him after   >good ol’ kai dragon interaction. yay confidence!
Episode 10 - wow I sure do hate this sorting plant by now, thinks Ronin ninjago.   >tossed in the sorting plant Cole: this isn't too bad. Dareth: yeah I thought we were going to be burned by the stake, haha! Ronin: oh you'll hate it soon enough.   >Dareth and cole exchange glances. Season 4, Episode 1- The New Rachel
(Written by: Ryan Murphy) (Directed by: Brad Falchuk)
Episode Rating: 7/10 new members
Star of the episode: Marley Rose
Quote of the episode: “I had a song in my heart, Blaine Warbler, and you killed it. Now I have a dead song in my heart, and pretty soon the corpse of my dead heart song is going to start to smell.” -Brittany Pierce
Best moment: Kurt arriving in New York with Rachel
Slush-O-Meter: 2 - Marley & Unique slushied by Phil & Bobby
Average Song Rating: 6/10
Song Rankings:
1. New York State of Mind - Rachel Berry & Marley Rose (9/10)
(both beautiful singers and they both killed it/ perfect song for both voices)
2. Never Say Never - Jake Puckerman (8/10)
(I love Jake’s voice/ very subtle and smooth)
3. Chasing Pavements - Marley Rose with New Directions (8/10)
(once again Marley’s voice is killer/ a fun first performance with the glee club for her/ I love Kurt arriving in NY too)
4. Americano/ Dance Again - Cassandra July with NYADA dance students (7/10)
(Cassandra’s a fun new character and delivers a nice performance)
5. Sister Christian - Brody Weston (7/10)
(not a very clear performance but his voice sounds amazing)
6. Call Me Maybe - Blaine Anderson, Brittany Pierce, Tina Cohen-Chang & Unique Adams (6/10)
(super fun but not as pretty vocally as the others/ love watching them all compete to become the next “star” of glee club)
7. It’s Time - Blaine Anderson (5/10)
(Blaine loves singing in the courtyard/ I’m just not a huge fan of this song but it’s fun/ why is every single McKinley student performing with Blaine though?)
8. Ave Maria - Beatrice McClaine (2/10)
(I mean it’s whatever)
9. Busters Get Popped - Stoner Brett (2/10)
(😂 it does make me laugh)

Note
I want to go back and rewatch That 70s Show, but just Jackie and Hyde’s relationship. What episodes for each season would you recommend, either because they are pivotal/important, or because they have cute moments together? Sorry for the long question, I’ve never asked a question on here before lol.
‘No apologies necessary! :D
